When Did We
When did we get so disconnected from the earth we walk on, from the food we eat, the words we speak, and the actions we take.
When did we create barriers between our worlds, between our states, across our seas and across our towns.
When did shortcuts and instant gratification replace hard work and an honest living.
When did we build up walls around our homes, around our hearts, and around our souls.
When did we think "saving face" or "playing games" was a sign of power or strength.
When did we get so disconnected from each other, when did we decide that you are separate from me, that my pain or achievement is better or less than yours.
When did we stop looking each other in the eyes, decide to not speak from our hearts, to be courageous in our truth, that vulnerability was a sign of weakness.
~ I can't pretend anymore, sometimes I wonder if there is anyone out there anymore.
You can find me in the woods with flowers in my hair and dirt on my feet, my heart open like a child's, but with the awareness and patience of an old soul.
I hope you'll meet me there.
